Practiced administrative skills, yes. Inspiring leadership, certainly. As Dean, you must also demonstrate a keen appreciation of the creative arts and their application to liberal education. But what will identify you as the new Dean will be a bold and crystallized vision of what’s possible for the Faculty and how to get it there. Be an expert listener as a basis for creating or fine tuning innovative academic programming and interdisciplinary initiatives. Be a progressive administrator and sound financial steward as you work with stakeholders to set priorities and manage and grow the Faculty’s human and financial resources.
