Position: Assistant Professor

General Information:

The Department of Music at Texas A&M University-Commerce seeks highly qualified applicants for an Assistant Professor of Music Theory to begin in August of 2019.

Qualifications:

Required Education and Experience:
> A completed Doctoral degree in Music Theory or Composition is required for appointment as Assistant Professor.
> Demonstrable evidence of success in classroom teaching.
> Prior experience in teaching the various levels of an undergraduate music theory/ear training sequence.
> Demonstrated record of success, or evidence of the potential for success, in research or composition.

Preferred Education and Experience:
> Proficiency in aural and keyboard skills
> Evidence of the ability to take a leading role in the instruction and retention of quality students
> Successful record of publications (theory or composition) or performances (composition).

> The ideal candidate will be a passionate educator and scholar committed to successful classroom teaching at all levels of undergraduate and graduate theory
> Teach ear training at the undergraduate level
> Engage in significant and sustained research, scholarship, and creative activity, as well as effective service

Salary Range: Commensurate
