Position: Assistant Professor

General Information:

Regis College in Denver, CO is the undergraduate residential liberal arts college of Regis University. Our Department of Fine and Performing Arts is seeking a colleague for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level to work closely with the Department and Music Program Director to build a new and growing music program within the context of a comprehensive, Jesuit liberal arts education. Position begins August, 2007. Final funding approval pending.

Qualifications:

Doctorate in music theory or related field with emphasis in music theory and aural skills in hand by August, 2007. Evidence of excellent classroom teaching and documented history of professional activity required.

Proficiency in use of technology used in theory training desirable.

Job Description/Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will have strengths in multiple areas to: teach foundations and aural skills; teach and oversee music theory component of major; contribute to undergraduate music survey courses and core writing seminars; and provide overall support to the Department. Possibility to direct an instrumental or choral ensemble.

The department currently offers courses leading to the Bachelor of Arts in Music, Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance, and Bachelor of Arts in Music History and Literature.
