Institution: University of Virginia Position: Postdoctoral Research Associate and Lecturer in Music General Information: The Department of Music at the University of Virginia invites applications for a two-year postdoctoral fellowship. The appointment begins August 25, 2019. This is a one-year academic appointment; however, appointment may be renewed for an additional one-year increment, contingent upon available funding and satisfactory performance. Qualifications: Applicants must have a completed PhD in a music-related field at the time of appointment and a commitment to and experience in teaching both music history and music theory at the undergraduate major level, especially within a liberal arts environment. In addition, they should have an exciting research agenda that complements work done within the department. Job Description/Responsibilities: Teaching duties include three courses across the two-semester academic year. These courses will include instruction in music history and music theory within the undergraduate music major, but may also include seminars in the Critical and Comparative Studies PhD program. The Research Associate will also have the opportunity to present their research within the department and, more broadly, within relevant contexts within the University. Salary Range: The salary is $47,500 plus full benefits.
