Institution: Shenandoah University Position: Teaching Fellow General Information: Shenandoah Conservatory seeks a creative musician and teacher with experience in music theory and musicianship. The successful candidate will be innovative, collegial, and open to opportunities for creative collaboration and mentorship. This is a two-year position, with full benefits and salary in the mid $30Ks, and begins in August of 2019. Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree in music. Ability to teach in the academic music areas of Music Theory, Ear-Training, and Music History. College-level teaching experience preferred. Preferred Qualifications: A completed doctorate, or ABD scholar, in either music theory or music composition, with a record of teaching music theory and musicianship at the college level. While knowledge of traditional Western art music is expected, preference will be given to applicants with expertise in other areas such as jazz, musical theatre, pop, rock, hip-hop, or world music. Job Description/Responsibilities: The fellow will teach each semester to support the undergraduate theory curricula, and as a member of an active and artistic division, the candidate will also participate in division meetings. Additional duties will vary based upon the experience and expertise of the candidate. While there are no requirements in service or scholarship, the successful candidate is invited to perform, collaborate, or otherwise contribute to the creative and diverse atmosphere of our Conservatory.
