Institution: Ball State University Position: Assistant Lecturer/Assistant Professor of Teaching General Information: one-year full time contract, starting 8/16/2019 Qualifications: minimum: ABD in music theory or composition, two years of college teaching experience (including as a graduate assistant). Preferred: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in music, three or more years’ college teaching experience, including courses similar to those listed above. Proven record of scholarly and/or creative productivity. Job Description/Responsibilities: Duties may include teaching graduate courses in Compositional Practices of the 17th- and 18th- centuries, Compositional practices of the 19th-century, graduate analytical techniques, undergraduate harmony sequence (all levels of tonal harmony and post-tonal techniques), undergraduate form and analysis, counterpoint of the 18th-century. Additional duties could also include orchestration, band arranging, choral arranging, and acoustic composition.
