Institution: University of Louisville Position: Lecturer - Music Theory General Information: The University of Louisville School of Music is seeking a .90 FTE lecturer in Music Theory. Department of Academic and Professional Studies in the School of Music seeks a lecturer to teach music theory classes to School of Music students who need these courses to satisfy requirements of their declared degree programs. Qualifications: Minimum Requirements: ABD in music theory or composition. Ability to demonstrate knowledge and skill in content area. Experience as an instructor in the college classroom. Preferred Qualifications: PhD in music theory. Active research agenda, including conference presentations and publications Competencies: Maintain professional appearance, communication, and representation of the university. Demonstrate strong interpersonal relationships with students and colleagues. Demonstrate time management, a positive attitude, and creative problem-solving skills. Knowledge of current field of music theory. Job Description/Responsibilities: Teach freshman theory, covering aural skills and written topics; junior-level analysis; and a graduate course in post-tonal analysis.
