Institution: University of Tampa Position: Assistant Professor of Music – History/Theory General Information: The Department of Music within the College of Arts & Letters at The University of Tampa is pleased to invite applications for a tenure- track appointment as an Assistant Professor of Music – History/Theory to begin August 2020. Qualifications: The successful candidate should have a Doctoral degree in Musicology, Music Theory, Music History, Ethnomusicology, or Composition. ABD will be considered. Successful candidates will also have evidence of teaching effectiveness at the college level. Job Description/Responsibilities: The successful candidate will teach courses in Music History, Music Theory, and Musicianship. This position may also include teaching music courses that affect a large population of non-music majors according to the needs of the music department (e.g., Music Appreciation, World Music and/or Jazz History). If required, the candidate may be asked to teach music courses in other topic areas where appropriate. The successful candidate will actively participate in departmental, college, and university service and coordinate music student assessment for student placement, student proficiency, and university accreditation as needed.
