Institution: University of Missouri-Kansas City Position: Assistant Professor of Music Theory General Information: Tenure Track, full-time, benefits-eligible. Qualifications: Demonstrated successful and innovative experience teaching courses in music theory, preferably in a university setting; evidence of emerging or established productivity as a scholar at the national level (research specialization area open); strong commitment to teaching and mentorship; Ph.D. in Music Theory (ABD considered, but degree must be completed by time of appointment). Job Description/Responsibilities: Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in music theory, including core undergraduate musicianship (combined written theory and aural skills), advanced undergraduate courses in analysis, post-tonal theory, and/or counterpoint, and graduate courses in tonal and/or post-tonal analysis and seminars in areas of specialized interest; sustain a national professional profile of music theory research and publication that reflects the career of a consistently productive scholar; serve on appropriate student and faculty committees and maintain active participation in other Conservatory activities; contribute to all facets of the Division of Music Studies and the Conservatory of Music and Dance, including academic, performance, and service components characteristic of a Conservatory within a university; make contributions that enrich the cultural environment and the quality of life in the greater Kansas City metropolitan community.
