Institution: Glendale Community College Position: Music Faculty (Music Theory) General Information: This Full-Time position is scheduled to begin August 2020. Glendale Community College is one of 10 accredited colleges in the Maricopa County Community College District (MCCCD). Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: ‪> A master's degree in the teaching field, or a master's in any teaching field with 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching field > EDU 250 - Teaching and Learning in the Community College - or equivalent must be completed within two years of date of hire Desired Qualifications: > Doctorate in Music (DMA, PhD, etc.) > Experience teaching at the collegiate level, community college preferred > Experience teaching all levels of Music Theory and Musicianship > Experience teaching Applied Music and Chamber Music > Experience teaching history and humanities/appreciation courses > Demonstrate artistry and/or scholarship in their field. Special Working Conditions: > Possession of a valid State of Arizona Class D driver's license is required; must meet minimum standards regarding driving: http://www.maricopa.edu/legal/rmi/vehicle.htm#requirements > Travel to campus during interview/selection process will be at candidate’s own expense > Will be required to travel or be assigned to all MCCCD locations > May require numerous evenings or weekends > May require prolonged periods of viewing a computer screen > May be required to lift or carry up to #25 lbs Job Description/Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be responsible teaching courses in Music Theory, Aural Perception, Chamber Music, and Private Instruction in Clarinet or Low Brass. Additional courses will be assigned from the music curriculum, possibly including history or humanities classes. This person will also be responsible for the coordination of student ensembles and performances. Active student recruitment, advisement and continued contribution to the excellence of the Music Program are essential and ongoing responsibilities. The candidate should demonstrate a commitment to service excellence, innovation, student success, integrity, and diversity in the performance of job duties. Essential Functions: > Instructs a diverse population of students in classroom, rehearsal and one-on-one settings > Develops written syllabi/course outlines and course materials; assesses student knowledge of subject matter and prepares and grades exams; maintains academic support hours to assist and advise students > Engages in the activities of the college by participating in district-wide and campus committees and activities > Develops and enhances knowledge of subject matter taught and artistry or research activity required to remain current with new trends and developments in the field and to promote the scholarship of teaching and learning through attendance at conferences, courses, seminars, and/or workshops Salary Range: $44,897 - $86,519/annually, DOE Items to Send: Only applications with unofficial transcripts, resume/Curriculum Vitae (CV), and cover letter addressing how the applicant meets the stated qualifications will be considered.
