Institution: Indiana University Position: Open Rank General Information: The Indiana University School of Music seeks candidates for a position in music theory. Candidates whose specialties complement those of the department are especially encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to candidates qualified for appointment at the associate or full professor level, though applicants qualified for appointment as assistant professor will also be considered. Appointment Effective Beginning August 2006. The search will remain open until a suitable candidate is identified; review of applications will begin on December 15, 2005. Qualifications: A completed Ph.D. in music theory or its equivalent is required. Other qualifications include a record of scholarly accomplishment, an active program of research, and potential for excellence in graduate and undergraduate teaching and the supervision of research. Job Description/Responsibilities: Responsibilities will involve teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in music theory, including courses in areas such as the history of music theory, music cognition, counterpoint, or innovative specializations; supervising research in area(s) of expertise; maintaining an active program of research and scholarly publication; serving on departmental and School of Music committees and doctoral advisory committees; and participating in other departmental activities.
