Qualifications:

A doctorate in music theory at the time of appointment is preferred (ABD considered). We are seeking candidates who: (i) have demonstrated effective classroom teaching skills and mentorship in music theory at the university level; (ii) within the breadth of the field of music theory, have an established or an emerging research profile; (iii) are willing to participate in advancing the department’s engagement in Indigeneity, interdisciplinary collaboration and community-inspired projects.

Job Description/Responsibilities:

Applications are invited from qualified individuals for a limited-term ten-month position in Music Theory (September 1, 2020 – June 30, 2021) at the rank of Lecturer with the Department of Music at the University of Saskatchewan. The successful candidate will: teach undergraduate- and potentially graduate-level courses in music theory and possibly other courses commensurate with the candidate’s expertise and departmental needs; and will undertake administrative activities corresponding to rank. In keeping with a significant University of Saskatchewan commitment, the Department welcomes candidates who will demonstrate leadership with respect to Indigenization, as well as community and outreach engagement.

Salary Range: Salary band for this position is 10/12ths of: Lecturer $80,116 - $118,960

(Performance, Individualized, and Music Education streams), a B.A. (Major in Music), as well as graduate degrees in musicology, music theory, and performance. The Department of Music has an established record of national and international interdisciplinary activities relating to academic pursuits, performing ensembles, and a variety of outreach and engagement activities.
